Located just north of Amboseli National Park, the Selenkay Conservancy in Kenya is part of the same ecosystem and was established to protect wildlife habitats and promote conservation on lands leased from the local Maasai community. Further west, the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, one of sixteen conservancies that make up the renowned Maasai Mara ecosystem, is a pristine wilderness area defined by its open savannah plains, riverine forests, springs, rivers, and rolling hills. Nearby, the Olare Motorogi Conservancy is an 85-square-kilometer private wilderness within the greater Maasai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Known for its limited tourism model—allowing only 94 beds to minimize environmental impact—Olare Motorogi is a haven for grazers like giraffes, zebras, and warthogs, which in turn attract predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Seasonal streams bordered by forests support a broader array of species, including baboons, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and leopards, making it a rich and diverse habitat for both flora and fauna.
